Plan A for my birthday was – 1. Take the day off, 2. Get the kids to school and the wife away to work, 3. Play Fallout 4 whole day.

At 8.01 in the morning the computer crashed (it took me until this Saturday, in total more than one week, to get the computer working again, with all the apps that are needed for even writing a simple blog post)

Plan B for my birthday was – 1. Take the day off, 2. Get the kids to school and the wife away to work, 3. Take a hot bath and sleep in it the whole day, (optional) maybe read a book

At 11.15 two of my law colleagues surprised me at my home, brought a whisky and took me to McDonald´s. I got home just after one PM, had a hangover even before the kids came home from school.

Plan W(hatever ) for my birthday – 1. Take the day off, 2. Get the kids to school and the wife away to work, 3. Enjoy all the unexpected things life brings with it.

At 4 PM my wife and my kids took me to a Japanese restaurant Maru here in Ljubljana, where we tried so many new things, got drunk on Sake.

We went home and at seven PM I went to my friend Tine where we tried a cognac that is older than we are, switched to a younger Japanese whiskey, finished that and then went to an awesome concert of Laibach on Ljubljana Castle. We were blown away by the concert and then we blew ourselves away by drinking too much. Got home at 1 AM already, drunk as hell, happy to be as lucky in life as I am. Fell asleep.

The whole weekend afterwards included some kind of eating and drinking, but the week after the weekend seemed to be reminding me that things in life do not go always as we plan or hope. So I was glad for the first week of my 40th year of my life to be over. This weekend I decided to spend some more time with my brother and mom. Worked around the family house, made some good grilled food with my brother and played games in the evening. Exactly what a forty-year-old non-virgin needs.

Ups and downs seem to be the essentials for people in their forties. Got to get used to it.

The computer is in full working order, finally, now I just need to start taking photos again.
