It has been a lovely two days. We had visitors. Paula`s sister Petra and her partner Aleš came for a one day visit on their way back from a Hannover WV beetle convention. Having people for a visit was great. The kids were excited, they could barely calm down, they were so happy to see some other face than mine and Paula`s. And it was what I needed, someone to go out with, drink beer and trash Slovenian politics and the general situation, while comparing it to the German superior situation. While discussing the Slovenian matters I found that I spoke of Slovenia as a foreign country. I felt like an old man giving advice on how we do it better here (in Germany) and how Slovenia has lost its compass. Like I am any more German than Brad Pitt could speak Italian in this scene of fabulous movie Inglorious Basterds:

How easily it is to become elevated, how easy it is to be exalted about »another« country`s situation. And I haven`t even done the 20 steps of becoming a German yet:

All I have to say about it is, that we have had a couple of beers before, so I was of unsound mind. And feeling cocky. Well you can`t blame me, I am unsocialised for I have been secluded from grown up society for so long – a whole month :).

Back to the visit. We had a great time. Petra and Paula did some sister bonding. The guys went to conquer the town, which is even prettier during the night. There are so many lights, young people having civilized fun; the park is so quiet, the ducks sleeping on the bank). It was nice. We had Zwickl in original glasses that are awesome. Like true Balkan people the first thought we had was about how to steal the glass. We didn`t because Germans don`t do that. And when in Germany…

In the evening, when we came home, we watched the movie Perfect Pitch (Paula has seen it at least fifty times – that is her talent. She can watch a movie she likes countless times – other favourites of hers are The Notebook, Constantine and Cool as Ice (I know, I know, but what can I do)). And in it there is this song from a band called Foreigner. I don`t know why I haven`t googled this band on any other 49 occasions of watching this movie with Paula (yeah, Paula likes to share her enthusiasm). When I did, I realised that I do not know a band of which music I basically grew up on. Everybody who is a kid from 80`s and 90`s knows these songs:

Foreigners rule, who would have thought – like us, here in a foreign country looking on the troubles of home from afar.

Tujci Slovenci v Nemčiji:

Minevata prelepa dva dneva. Imeli smo obiske.

Kako z lahkoto postaneš vzvišen in pameten o problemih “druge” države.

In nadut.

Petra in Paula sta okrepili sestrske vezi.

Lahko gleda en in isti film neštetokrat – drugi takšni filmi so The Notebook, Constantine in Cool as Ice (saj vem, ampak kaj naj naredim)).
